Updated Session Rates In Line with BPI and MU Guidelines

Keeping Things Fair, Flexible, and Professional at Online Drum Studio

Hey friends,

I wanted to share an important (and exciting) update about my recording session rates.

After receiving the latest notice from the Musicians’ Union (MU) and reviewing the BPI 2025 session guidelines, I’ve decided to bring my pricing fully in line with industry standards.

This means that from November 2025, my rates will now follow the MU/BPI structure — ensuring fair pay for professional musicianship while keeping things flexible and affordable for artists, producers, and songwriters.

What’s Included in Every Session

Each booking includes:

  • High-quality recording using professional drums, mics, and equipment

  • Studio time, engineering, and performance

  • Clean, mix-ready multitracks delivered to you

  • Optional add-ons like MIDI, percussion layers and now video too

I aim to make every recording personal, dynamic, and tailored to your sound. Whether it’s a single, a film cue, or a 10-track album, every project gets the same care and energy.

Why the Update?

My previous rate was £99 per track, which served well for a long time.

But as costs rise and professional standards evolve, it’s important to stay aligned with the Musicians’ Union and BPI frameworks that protect both musicians and clients. I also follow the MU rates for drum lessons, so this keeps everything cohesive and in line with the industry.

By following these updated rates, I can continue offering top-quality performances while maintaining transparency and fairness — no surprises, just great drumming and reliable service.

Rates are now based on session types which factored in both duration of the session and length of audio, whichever is most appropriate. There’s also a facility fee for which both short and standard sessions use the half day rate, but long sessions use the full day rate. This will come in to play even more next year as I build and move into my fully soundproof and sound treated studio, which I’m currently investing in for my clients.

It’s not per track anymore, but by the length of the session.

Example Rates

I’ve put together a comparison table of my previous rates and the new rates. Because the previous rate was on a per track basis, the cost was just the amount of tracks multiplied by X. So the more tracks you had the more expensive it got. With the new rates you’ll see the pricing scales appropriately so if you have a full EP or album in need of drums that is by far the most cost effective way to get my drums on your music, (look at the cost per song columns).

With the previous pricing fixed on a per track basis, the cost grew as you added more tracks. This meant if you needed a lot of tracks, the cost was big.

The new rate scales with the amount of tracks/duration. So although it’s more expensive for 1 or 2 tracks, it works out massively more cost effective the more tracks you have.
